Call me crazy but I'm making more bags. I had such fun making the last set that I decided to use up the rest of the upholstery type fabric and I got another two sets of bags out of it.
I ran out of the pale green rayon for the lining so I am using some craft fabric I bought ages ago for the second set.
I also had to make more bias tape for the larger bag. For a complete tutorial on how to make a batch of bias tape, go here, from March 8, 2008.
Now I have just enough bias tape in both fabrics to make a large bag with each kind of lining.
Here are all the pieces, waiting for me to get zippers for them. For the sharp-eyed, there is a bonus fifth bag in there. I just can't throw away even a small piece of fabric if it can possibly be turned into a bag. Tomorrow, I'll be getting the zippers. I was going to walk - it is "only" a 10 km round trip - but I am getting a ride instead by a fortuitous set of circumstances.
"Only"
ReplyDeleteThat reminds me of my mother, who would say similar things. (That is intended to be a compliment.)
The bags look wonderful. There seems to be a rash of bag-construction breaking out around the internet... I am thinking of jumping on the bandwagon and taking a bag-construction class at the local fabric store this spring.
This is a fantastic idea! I have a bin of pieces of fabrics that I just can't throw out - so to use these smaller pieces to make bags is brilliant!
ReplyDeleteI may have to join this bag party too :)
HI Julia!
ReplyDeletei saw your blog and i thought-Oh wow! its amazing!
I know this is kinda random and not related but when creating my own blog the website wouldnt let me upload the photos...my jpg photos dont upload for some reason, know why?
Thanks so much
N
hey Winterhart, I take it as a compliment! :)
ReplyDeleteAFS, I don't think one can have too many bags!
Anon, there could be many reasons why photos don't load, so I can't help you with the specifics. In the beginning, my photos wouldn't load half the time so I put them all on Flickr and paste in the code and have done it that way ever since with no issues.
thanks!
ReplyDeleteyou said in the beginning , so does that mean that it sorted itself out eventually..?!
I never bothered to try sorting it out later, the Flickr procedure was so successful. I think Blogger did improve and I know other people don't have the same problems as I did. Plus now I am using Firefox and that is better than Safari at the time. You just have to find the combo that works for you.
ReplyDeleteWell, we're all getting a lot of extra exercise these days, so 10K really doesn't sound like that much anymore. (Stop making bags now. You don't want to inadvertantly turn into a bag lady)
ReplyDeleteI have made bags as gifts and for myself...it's so versatile and handy. Especially for craft stuff.
ReplyDeleteXUP, no fear of me being a bag lady! And yes, 10k really isn't that much. I've walked as much as 20k in one day and know I could walk a lot more than that.
ReplyDeleteSarah, I do have too many bags for just myself - that's why I like giving them away!
Your bags and also the hat are fantastic. I have this thing about wanting to make Christmas gift bags right now. They are so fun. Maybe I'll blog about them later. Keep having fun.
ReplyDeletewow love your blog
ReplyDeleteit really helped me
xoxo BS

Just started my blog using Firefox and so far not trouble posting pictures, but we'll see.
ReplyDeleteI'm nuts about bags-can't get enough of them.
More bias tape! Now I'm all misty eyed, as bias tape is what brought me to you in the first place.... anyway, nice bags!
ReplyDeleteJulia, I hope all is well with you.
ReplyDeleteI have the Kreativ Blogger Award for you on my blog :)
Hi Julia.I nominated you for the"Kreativ Blogger" award. Please check out my blog if you have time.
ReplyDeleteHm...the Lisas are thinking alike! I just nominated you, too ;)
ReplyDeleteThanks everyone for the comments and the awards! I will get back at sewing soon - the last treatment was nasty, and mental as well as physical.
ReplyDeleteMy SIL talked about Chemo brain when I talked to her yesterday. The nurse told her that there would be exclamations of "oh, that's just my chemo brain!" coming from the waiting room, followed by laughter. Irene says it's hit her, too.
ReplyDeleteWish you could go on our cruise with us. Irene is looking forward to a time of rest and refreshment. Deck chairs with the sun and ocean breeze can only be super healing.
Marty, sounds great! But I have to wait for my treatments to be over. By the end of March, I should be back on my bike, outside in the fresh air and that's almost as good as a cruise. :)
ReplyDeleteHi,
ReplyDeleteI came across your blog and think it is absolutely wonderful! I was inquiring to know if you would post a link on your blog to my website called thepaydayway.com. I would love to send you a free product from our food storage or camping gear website. Please let me know at taraivers@gmail.com
Thanks so much!
Bags! What a wonderful idea! I have some leftover fabric from window treatments that would make some perfect bags. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteM&T I think I'll pass on the linkage, no offense.
ReplyDeleteSandy, you're welcome for the inspiration!
